GE Comes Together to Support Victims of Turkey-Syria Earthquake Tragedy

It has been two months since a devastating earthquake struck Turkey and Syria. As the countries work to rebuild, GE has come together to support victims in ways big and small.

GE Volunteers across the MENA region acted swiftly following the disaster to buy and donate relief supplies. More than two tons of items were collected at various offices and donated to organizations identified by the Turkish and Syrian embassies. These supplies included winter clothing and shoes for adults and children, canned food, diapers, baby formula, cleaning and hygiene products, tents, sleeping bags, bandages, blankets, thermoses, and flashlights. In the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, the goal was to provide as many people as possible with essential, basic items for survival.

On the ground in Turkey, GE FieldCore teams mobilized in the area. They supported official on-ground rescue efforts and brought humanitarian supplies directly to the hardest-hit areas.

GE and the GE Foundation also announced a US$300,000 contribution to provide immediate relief to the southeastern region of Turkey. In addition, individual employees and the GE Foundation matching program raised another US$290,000.  The funds will go to the Bridge to Turkiye Fund, a volunteer-run philanthropy bridge between the United States and Turkey, to support a local disaster relief organization.
