A Call to Female Professionals Looking to Restart their Careers

Are you an experienced female professional who has taken a voluntary career break and looking to relaunch it from where you left off? If so, GE wants you to be part of its “Return to Career” program.

This program is driven by two realizations; first, GE knows that diversity is key to its success and is committed to increasing the number of women in all positions, including senior roles across its operations in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) region. GE believes that a company that works to change the world should reflect the world!

Second, GE recognizes that there is an outstanding pool of female talent in the region that has stepped away from their careers, are ready and eager to return to work however have never been given the platform to achieve this.

First launched as a pilot in the UAE, the Return to Career program has expanded to Egypt and Turkey, giving returning professionals in these countries the tools and platform to confidently resume their careers.

The program has attracted talented women with diverse technical backgrounds in fields such as engineering, finance, supply chain and IT. The candidates selected came from diverse industries including digital, aviation, oil and gas, and other industrial sectors.

During the ongoing 10-week programs in Egypt and Turkey, candidates are benefitting from GE induction and trainings, mentorship sessions with GE leaders, coaching and networking opportunities with top MENAT executives, and an on-the-job assignment in a specific GE business.

“At GE, we are strong believers in a culture of leadership and diversity to drive innovation and a more effective organization. In this region, we want to attract the brightest minds regardless of gender and we are committed to improving our female representation across all functions especially at the managerial levels,” said Rania El Khouly, Organization & Talent Development leader, MENAT at GE.

The program is open to candidates with more than 10 years of experience and a career break of up to four years. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree, or higher, from an accredited university and have a functional background in engineering, digital/software, marketing, commercial, legal, operations, supply chain or project management. They should be living in the country in which they are applying.

Candidates are selected based on experience matching GE’s business needs in each country. After completing the 10-week program, participants could be offered a full-time job with GE.

The programs in Egypt and Turkey began in April.

GE’s regional organization has made greater gender balance a priority for years, not only within the organization’s leadership and professional levels, but more broadly across the regional economy and its workforce.

Join GE and you’ll discover a career opportunity of incredible diversity – across disciplines and around the globe. No other company invests in the development, training and advancement of its employees the way we do, because we believe that it is their innovative thinking that is our strength. And that strength is what enables GE to make a positive impact on tomorrow, today.
