March 14, 2010 by GE
Gas turbines play an indispensable role in converting different fuel sources to electricity due to their multiple advantages that include: high efficiency in conversion, environment friendliness, reduced emissions, and lower cost of power. GE has over a 1000 turbines across the region, and the speed of response to customers’ servicing needs is critical.
Furthering GE’s aim to help the UAE and the region meet this growing demand for sustainable energy is the expansion of the venture with Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies. Gulf Turbine Services LLC, the joint venture, aims to help increase levels of service and support for gas turbine operators throughout the region by offering better turnaround time for turbine repair services. Demand for electricity in the UAE is expected to double to 40,000 MW by 2020 due to fast economic growth, increase in population and the growing industrial sector.
Since the 1970s, GE has played a key role in the development of the UAE’s infrastructure. GE has been active here the Middle East since the 1930s and has multiple local repair and service facilities to serve customers throughout the region.
