Hundreds of Fresh Hires for KSA’s First All-Female Business Process Services Center

Hundreds of Fresh Hires for KSA’s First All-Female Business Process Services Center

The number of Saudi working women in the private sector quadrupled between 2010 and 2012 to nearly 216,000, according to the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA). This compares with a more modest 37% increase for Saudi men in the private sector.

The rising numbers of female hires reflects several factors, including the low starting point, the implementation of the Nitaqat Saudiization program and the reality that more Saudi women than men are attaining university degrees.

Contributing to these efforts, Saudi Aramco, GE and Tata Consultancy Services today marked the inauguration of Saudi Arabia’s first all-female business process services center. Reflecting their shared commitment to boosting workplace diversity and creating opportunities for working women in the Kingdom, participants included CEOs from all three companies: Khalid Al-Falih, CEO and President of Saudi Aramco; Natarajan Chandrasekaran, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services; and John G. Rice, Vice Chairman and President & CEO of GE Global Growth Organization.

The service center has already hired 265 female employees, including 193 Saudis, and both GE and Saudi Aramco have surpassed their targets of hiring more than 120 women each. The new employees include more than 90 recent Saudi graduates, while the entire first batch of recruits has received more than 80,000 hours of intensive training in various office and administrative skills.

In its first phase, the center is offering finance & accounting, HR and materials supply services to customers. As it expands, it will offer a full range of office services.
