US Secretary State Department Global Award for GE’s Inclusive Hiring in Saudi Arabia
You don’t have to tell any of the 1,000 talented women working at the All-Women Business Process & IT Services Center in Riyadh that the center is a model of an inclusive business.
Every day, these professional women, most of whom are Saudis, have the opportunity to serve customers; not only in Saudi Arabia, but also North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, India and Turkey.
The US Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence recognizes the center’s diversity efforts in the Kingdom. The Award for Corporate Excellence is a global recognition, covering all US businesses operating internationally.
GE received the award in the category of “Inclusive Hiring Practices” for the company’s work in Saudi Arabia.
Since early 2014, the All-Women Business Process & IT Services Center in Riyadh has provided a valuable workplace opportunity for the professional women. Some hold Bachelor and Masters degrees; and all are highly skilled and deliver more than 20 business services to over 50 countries around the world. In addition to working on GE projects, they also support the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning, Saudi Aramco and the Saudi Telecom Company.
The center is expected to grow to 3,000 employees over the next few years
“A close partnership between GE, Saudi Aramco and TCS through the amazing talent in Saudi and our global domain experts has proven to be a winning model for competing globally. The growth of a culture focused on delivery, quality and process improvement, along with an overall commitment to excellence continues to add value for all customers and is a testament to the whole team in the Centre.” Shane Fitzsimons, Senior Vice President – GE Global Operations
The partnership between GE, Saudi Aramco and Tata Consultancy Services ( TCS) supports the Saudi economy and the Kingdom’s economic development strategy by providing a new business model that taps into the enormous potential of the highly educated and skilled female workforce.
“This global award highlights a key driver of GE’s global strategy – to pursue localization across all the markets in which we operate,” said Hisham Albahkali, President and CEO of GE Saudi Arabia & Bahrain. “We are particularly excited because this global award is being presented to GE for the exemplary work the company is doing here in Saudi Arabia.”
“We are committed to supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and see our support for a diverse and inclusive workforce across our operations in the Kingdom as playing a valuable part in supporting this growth.”
The prestigious annual ACE is presented to US firms that uphold the highest standards of responsible business conduct in their global operations. ACE nominations are focused on the exemplary operations of a company in a specific country with the nominations made by US embassies and consulates. Tony Blinken, Deputy Secretary of State, presented the award to GE at a ceremony held in Washington DC on January 5th, 2017.
With a presence of over 80 years, three offices and seven facilities, Saudi Arabia accounts for the largest GE workforce in the Middle East with over 2,000 employees driving the Aviation, Healthcare, Oil & Gas, Power & Water and Transportation businesses.
