Driven by Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as annual electricity demand growth of nearly 10% in recent years, Qatar is working to make its power sector as efficient as possible. GE is helping with the latest technologies and efficiency solutions.

Under Principles of Cooperation (PoC) signed on 10th April, 2018, GE plans to support the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) with a ‘Power Efficiency and Fuel Savings Campaign’.

KAHRAMAA and GE intend to cooperate to explore ways to drive higher efficiency, flexibility and fuel savings across Qatar’s power sector by utilizing the latest technologies in the power generation sector, enhancing the performance of existing assets, as well as supporting KAHRAMAA in their future plans.

KAHRAMAA President, His Excellency Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari said, “Since its inception in 2000, KAHRAMAA endeavors to provide efficient, reliable, and sustainable services, and works through the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed” to save resources and achieve energy efficiency as per Qatar National Vision 2030, and Qatar development plans. GE will help us advance these efforts further with their solutions and on-the-ground knowledge. Our cooperation   will help better utilize fuel supplies, and reduce emissions to support sustainable development.”

The PoC supports the National Vision, which has ‘Environmental Development’ as a central pillar and which calls for resources to be used efficiently to best serve current and future generations.

The PoC comes following talks between KAHRAMAA and GE at the United States-Qatar Strategic Dialogue held in Washington DC earlier this year.
