GE Healthcare showcases latest advances in healthcare technologies at Arab Health 2012
At Arab Health 2012, GE Healthcare is showcasing its latest advances in ultrasound technology, computed tomography (CT) systems, MR Radiation Oncology options and molecular imaging tools. Arab Health is the region’s premier healthcare exhibition being held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center from January 23-26.
To meet growing needs and demand for ultrasound technology in the region and worldwide, GE Healthcare is accelerating its development of solutions and tools that help advance the capabilities of ultrasound in a wide range of clinical areas.
Underling this commitment, GE Healthcare has unveiled the following new products and a range of breakthroughs in ultrasound at Arab Health: The LOGIQ S8 is a lightweight, portable ultrasound system that fits easily into small exam rooms, can be easily transported within a facility and provides superb images across a variety of clinical areas including abdominal, breast, vascular, musculoskeletal and cardiology. Also in ultrasound technology is displayed the latest innovations for the Voluson Expert Series platform, including HDlive, which provides exceptional anatomical realism and helps increase depth perception. The innovative imaging capability can help medical professionals achieve a deeper understanding of relational anatomy, help enhance diagnostic confidence and improve communication with patients.
The GE Healthcare stand also presents an expanded portfolio of provider and patient-friendly computed tomography (CT) systems. These systems address increasingly varied clinical settings and offer outstanding diagnostic capabilities at optimized dose levels.
Also prominent at the booth, there are two innovative and award-winning designs of wide bore magnetic resonance systems, Discovery* MR750w 3.0T and Optima* MR450w 1.5T with GEM (Geometry Embracing Method) Suite of Coils. In addition on display are the company’s MR Radiation Oncology options on the Optima MR450w and Discovery MR750w – technology that is playing an increasingly important role in radiation oncology and overall patient management.
There are a wide range of molecular imaging cancer care tools designed to enable treatment evaluation earlier in a patient’s care pathway presented at the GE Healthcare stand. Being introduced to the Middle East region is the new Discovery* PET/CT 710, with 128-slice imaging capabilities, and Q.Suite — a collection of capabilities designed to extend quantitative PET by generating more consistent Standardized Uptake Value (SUV) readings — enabling clinicians to assess treatment response accurately.
During the course of cancer treatment, clinicians traditionally gauge progress by looking for physical changes in the size of a tumor, typically using computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR). In many cases, however, metabolic changes in a tumor can be perceived earlier than physical ones, so quantitative PET can give physicians an additional, earlier way to view how well a treatment is working.
GE Healthcare has several decades of presence in the Middle East region, and its technologies support an overwhelming majority of hospitals. Now in its 37th year, Arab Health is expected to host over 70,000 healthcare professionals, and will feature over 3,000 companies from around the world. Visit GE Healthcare’s pavilion, which will be located in Sheikh Saeed Hall – Stand No S3B10.
