Flying into the Future: GE9X Engines to Lift Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777X Fleet
November 17, 2013 at 10:11am

More than $3.8 billion worth of GE9X engines (at list price) will power Qatar Airways’ just ordered fleet expansion of 50 Boeing 777X aircraft. The GE9X-powered Boeing 777X aircraft will support Qatar Airways in its continued rapid growth.

The GE9X engine will be the largest and most fuel-efficient engine GE has ever designed and manufactured. Selected earlier this year to power the Boeing 777X, the GE9X will feature several technology breakthroughs, including aviation’s largest-diameter front fan at 132 inches; composite fan case and fourth-generation composite fan blades; next-generation 27:1 pressure ratio high-pressure compressor; a third-generation TAPS (twin annular pre-swirl) combustor for greater efficiency and low emissions; and ceramic matrix composite material in the combustor and turbine.

Qatar Airways currently has orders worth over US$50 billion for more than 250 aircraft, including Boeing 787s, 777s, Airbus A380 and A320 family of aircraft.

Woah! I'mreally loving the template/theme of this blog. It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's very hard to get that "perfect balance" between usabiliity and visual appearance. I must say that you've done a great job with this. Also, the blog loads super quick for me on Chrome. Exceptional Blog!
