As ADNOC Invests in R&D, Members of its Technical Staff Complete GE Oil & Gas University Program
Despite lower oil prices, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) continues to increase its investment in research and development, placing a particular focus on increasing recovery rates from its existing fields. The goal: to increase oil reservoir recovery rates from the industry standard of 35% to 70%.
It will take skilled technicians, engineers, petroleum specialists and other scientists with leadership skills to implement these R&D projects, not to mention operate and manage the group’s many other fields and operations.
As part of its work to support the ongoing development, skills and leadership enhancement of employees of ADNOC and its group of companies, GE Oil & Gas recently completed its fifth GE Oil & Gas University Program for ADNOC group technical staff.
A global initiative, the University Program provides GE customers with localized training in leadership, finance, oil and gas equipment, energy and processes. Three localized courses have already been completed for the ADNOC group of companies. The training ran over four weeks and was held in collaboration with the Petroleum Institute University and Research Center. The training is an intensive learning program customized to the requirements of ADNOC. It has a flexible schedule enabling participants to undertake the program at their work location. GE Oil & Gas University Program has over 200 alumni in the UAE.
Rami Qasem, President & CEO, GE Oil & Gas MENAT, said: “Because ADNOC and GE Oil & Gas work together on several projects, we understand the technical and skill-set requirements for these courses. Crucially, these Leadership Programs not only build technical skills, but also leadership capabilities that enhance the professional and personal development of the participants.”
This ongoing series of courses by the GE Oil & Gas University Program is part of a broader commitment by GE to share knowledge and help strengthen local talent. Previously, GE Oil & Gas signed an agreement with the Petroleum Institute (PI) to provide specialized leadership and training programs, summer internship opportunities and educational tools for PI students.
GE Oil & Gas in the UAE contributes technology and know-how to help its upstream and downstream customers address their toughest challenges in areas ranging from enhanced oil recovery and artificial lift to gas-to-liquid.
