WFES 2012: Showcasing Advanced Technologies for the Clean Energy Era
The Middle East’s growing demand for cleaner, efficient and sustainable energy production will require an annual investment over $100 billion every year, according to a recent Gulf News report.
Realizing the need to fulfill energy demand, energy efficiency is top of the agenda at this year’s World Future Energy Summit (WFES), which will take place in Abu Dhabi from January 16-19.
Held under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (MASDAR), the Summit is now into its fifth year. This also marks the fifth anniversary of GE’s participation in the event.
GE’s participation reflects its commitment to support Abu Dhabi meet its target of generating seven percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.
Steve Bolze, president and CEO, GE Power & Water, will be speaking at Business Leaders in Future Energy – Insights from the Executive Suite, on January 17 at 9.30 a.m., sharing his insights on future energy trends. Additionally, Frank Ackland, regional general manager, Digital Energy, GE Energy, will be a member of the panel “Energy Efficiency: The Key to Carbon Reduction” on January 17 at 2.15 p.m. He will discuss smart grid and its role in renewable integration in order to reduce carbon emision.
Under the banner, “Powering a Sustainable Future”, GE’s booth 5320 will showcase the company’s portfolio of advanced power, water re-use and oil and gas technologies, including solutions for modernizing the grid to meet the region’s growing capacity, sustainability, economic and security needs.
This will include the ecomagination certified FlexEfficiency* 50 power plant, Flex Aero gas turbine and the Jenbacher gas engine.
