Developed by GE Intelligent Platforms, the first component the company has introduced to help companies achieve RtOI is Proficy Mobile. This powerful app for iOS and Android delivers RtOI across an organization by sending the right information to the right people at the right time.
For example, Proficy Mobile enables plant operators — from their smartphone or tablet — to see real-time data on plant performance and even make SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) changes through the app. Technicians can use the app to access real-time KPIs and maintenance information about the equipment that’s right in front of them. Executives can use the app to capture current metrics for update meetings and presentations.
Assets and processes are tracked using KPIs to notify users of alert conditions, as well as trends that may be occurring in the plant. In addition, Proficy Mobile provides aggregated asset health displays intelligently to alert the user to a current condition drawing attention to the most critical information.
As a result, employees don’t have to sift through huge volumes of data; they only see the data relevant to their work. Employees also can make faster, more accurate decisions. They are more productive and happier because their company is giving them the right information they need to do their job, not drowning them in a flood of data — only some of which is relevant, but all of which they need to assess.
The app features an easy-to-use standard interface with GE’s patented GEO-intelligence technology that provides situational awareness typically found only in consumer apps like Facebook®. It has a powerful back-end server that transforms existing raw data into intelligent, actionable information. It also provides companies with the option of allowing employees to use their own devices quickly, easily and securely.
