Small, kind gestures can make a big world of difference, as our staff in Qatar proved recently.

The GE Volunteers in Qatar had an eventful fortnight as they joined hands and rallied support for Qatar Charity.

The charity drive led by GEV Qatar Council Leader Irene Ancheta was simple in spirit and execution – all you had to do was donate clothes or toys, which are otherwise discarded or left untouched, to the beneficiaries of Qatar Charity, one of the country’s leading charitable organizations. Donations were received over 2-week period across at the GE Advanced Technology & Research Center at Qatar Science & Technology Park and at the GEII C Ring Road facility. Where some 50 GE staffs and family members spent around 100 dedicated man-hours in collection, transporting, sorting and packing of donations. Donations were later handed over to Qatar Charity.

Having put forth the smile on the face of the little ones, who will now receive the toys and families who will be receiving the clothes, will be true reward of this volunteering effort.

As GE Volunteers Qatar aims to get involved and make a difference in their community, they have already moved on to their next project – “My School, My Farm”, which supports a greener environment.

Congratulations to all the participants. You have made a difference… and that is what volunteering is all about at GE.
