The power sector in the Gulf has seen tremendous growth ranging from 10 to 15% annually, with demand for electrical power to triple over the next 25 years and Qatar is one of the fastest growing markets for power and water development, according to AMEinfo.com. It is therefore no surprise that the 2012 POWER-GEN Middle East conference is taking place in Qatar at the Qatar National Convention Center in Doha, from February 6-8, 2012.

Underscoring the company’s commitment to support Qatar and the region meet its growing energy needs, GE has participated in POWER-GEN Middle East for over 10 years. Highlight energy efficiency as a key to driving sustainable development, this year, GE is showcasing a wide range of advanced energy technologies under the banner of “Cleaner, Flexible, More Efficient”.

Held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, Qatar, this year’s POWER-GEN Middle East is themed “Changing Power Solutions in Challenging Times” that highlights the importance of achieving sustainability and efficiency in power generation to meet growing power needs.

GE technology highlights on the booth include the new FlexEfficiency 50 combined cycle power plant that integrates renewables with natural gas to produce cleaner, more affordable and reliable power; power plant lifecycle solutions that empower customers to make efficient use of scarce resources and enable them to achieve increased operational efficiency.

At this year’s POWER-GEN Middle East, a number of GE business leaders will be sharing their expertise on various topics in this year’s seminars. GE experts will be on hand at booth 6C01 to explain the company’s ground breaking technology.
