Since the 1890’s, from Thomas Alva Edison’s invention of the very first incandescent lightbulb, to the invention of the Light Emitting Diode, to the mass marketing of LEDs in all the brightness and colours we see today, GE has been at the forefront of innovation.

Now, that innovation is illuminating the Middle East and Africa, with the opening of the first GE Lighting distribution center in the region. Located in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone, covering 1,375 square meters, the GE Lighting center will serve as a strategic hub for the company to meet the growing need for intelligent and energy-efficient lighting solutions in the UAE as well as strengthen exports to key markets across the Middle East and Africa.

The distribution center will have over 2,000 products, bringing one of the largest showcases of GE Lighting products beside its headquarters in Budapest, Hungary. All products will be shipped in from Hungary and the other manufacturing centers of the company around the world.

In the UAE, GE Lighting has been associated with several key initiatives including nearly 70 per cent of street lighting in Abu Dhabi, as well as lighting solutions for several landmark projects across the country.

In fact, with a range that extends beyond mainstream applications such as home, office, shop or street lighting, and into showbiz applications, aviation and even lighting for medical applications that destroys bacteria, you could say Lighting is one of GE’s brightest stars.
