Investment and Entrepreneurship to Unlock Tunisian Opportunities
GE was a sponsor and participant of the third annual Investment and Entrepreneurship Conference in Tunisia.The event highlighted business and investment opportunities in the region and advanced U.S. and regional partnerships in the areas of entrepreneurship, education, investing and high-growth sectors.
In addition to the attendance of Tunisia’s Prime Minister Habib Essid, U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker and former U.S. Secretary of State Madeline Albright, the forum gathered nearly 300 government officials, business and civil society leaders, investors and entrepreneurs from the United States, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. It was held under the patronage of the American Chamber of Commerce in Tunisia and the Tunisia chapter of the Aspen Institute’s North Africa Partnership for Economic Opportunity (PNB-NAPEO).
GE’s participation reflected its long-term commitment to supporting economic and infrastructure development across the North Africa region and Tunisia in particular. Sofiane Ben Tounes, President and CEO for GE North East Africa, participated in a panel discussion on “Redefining Market Opportunities in Energy and Infrastructure.”
GE has been part of Tunisia’s fabric for over 30 years working on key projects to drive the country’s progress across the energy, transportation, aviation and healthcare sectors. GE is also working on a number of initiatives to create jobs and build human capabilities. GE has been recently received the Award for Corporate Excellence by the U.S. Secretary of State for its work in country.
