GE90 deal at Paris Air Show: Qatar Airways buys more power
Qatar Airways has just bought six Boeing 777-300ERs powered by the world’s most powerful commercial engine – the GE90-115B. The engine deal is valued at more than US$350M list price. The airline already owns and operates 25 of the GE90-powered Boeing 777 with an additional 15 aircraft on order.
The GE90-115B is the exclusive powerplant for Boeing’s 777-300ER, 777-200LR and 777 Freighter and has broken a number of aviation records – including two Guinness World Records! One of the quietest engines, the GE90-115B is a fuel-efficient, low emission, highly reliable engine.
Snecma of France, Avio SpA of Italy, and IHI Corporation of Japan are revenue-sharing participants in the GE90 program.
Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airlines operating one of the youngest fleets in the world. Along with the GE90 engines, Qatar Airways operates CF6 engines and has orders for GEnx engines for the Boeing 787 aircraft.
