GE unveils plans for its new facility at Dhahran Techno Valley

GE Vice Chairman John Rice signed an agreement with Dr Khalid Al Sultan, Director of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) announcing plans to build the GE Dhahran Techno Valley facility, a specialized center of innovation dedicated to technology support and technical training, which also consolidates all research operations of the company in Saudi Arabia.

Scheduled to be opened in phases, starting in the first quarter of 2013, the facility is strategically located in Dhahran Techno Valley, a part of KFUPM.

GE Dhahran Techno Valley facility will work to develop new technologies and offer training support across all key businesses of GE in the Kingdom including energy, oil & gas, water and healthcare. The training solutions at the facility will be offered to all stakeholders of the company including customers and staff as well as GE’s partners in the education and research sector such as KFUPM.

The facility will primarily focus on applications and proposal engineering, training, research & development, customer solutions as well as bring new technology, solutions and knowledge to address the current and future requirements of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Located strategically in close proximity to the Saudi Aramco headquarters, the facility will have over 120 professionals drawn from various fields including research, engineering, operations, commercial and support functions.
