Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Journey of Transformation
When a GE employee in the United States calls the company’s Global Operations Centre for back-office services, there’s a fair chance they will be helped by a Saudi woman working at the first All-Women Business Process and IT Services Centre in Riyadh.
Highly skilled, with some staffers holding Bachelor and Masters degrees, the professional women working at the centre deliver more than 20 business services to more than 50 GE locations across North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, India and Turkey. Closer to home, they also deliver business services to the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning, Saudi Aramco and the Saudi Telecom Company.
Today, on the second anniversary of the centre’s opening, 850 Saudi women are among 1,000 female employees in total delivering important back-office services to some of the largest companies in the world. Ultimately the centre is expected to grow to 3,000 employees, most of them Saudi women.
The centre, a joint initiative of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Saudi Aramco and GE, supports the Kingdom’s economic development strategy by providing a new business model that taps the enormous potential of the highly educated and skilled female workforce in Saudi Arabia.
The employees benefit from extensive talent development programs, which have involved more than 610,000 hours of training across various disciplines. In addition, both TCS and GE have established partnerships with Saudi academic institutions to incorporate relevant content into their Business Administration and Information Technology curricula.

The anniversary celebration was attended by a number of senior executives and officials, including His Excellency Khalid Al-Faleh, Minister of Health and Chairman of Saudi Aramco; His Excellency Dr. Mufarrej Al-Haqbani, Minister of Labor; His Excellency Abdullatif Al Othman, Governor of Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA); Shane Fitzsimons, Senior Vice President of GE Global Operations; and Natarajan Chandrasekaran, CEO and Managing Director of TCS.
GE strongly supports diversity in the workplace, both within GE and across the communities in which it operates, recognizing that by unlocking the potential of all employees, companies and countries grow stronger. Other examples of GE’s support for female employment in the region includes the announcement in January with Masdar to develop the “Women in Innovation” leadership training program to help grow the pipeline of women in the field of renewable energy.
