Evidence based medicine: GE Healthcare eSolutions
One of healthcare’s biggest problems is the fragmented clinical information trapped in different IT systems across multiple institutions, without the common framework to inter-connect healthcare providers and their patients.
To address such issues, late last year under the vision of Healthymagination, GE Healthcare launched a new global business unit focused on providing advanced eHealth solutions and services to healthcare providers, health insurances and governmental agencies. Under this unit, a next-generation eSolutions platform was created and launched in the Middle East in the beginning of May at the Saudi eHealth 2010 Conference. This eHealth Solutions portfolio helps simplify the collection and exchange of data among a large variety of clinical systems.
In order to develop this eSolution expertise GE Healthcare has partnered with the acknowledged eHealth expert ICW, headquartered in Germany. The spotlight of the joint development and sales effort is an application for the centralized management and distribution of medical documents that enables doctors from different institutions to access data centrally that pertains to patients in whose joint treatment they are involved.
By facilitating the access to complete patient data across multiple locations and systems, eHealth solutions provide a step further towards evidence based medicine, which will result in enhanced quality of care, improved productivity and reduction of costs and medical errors.
