Digital Solutions in Oil and Gas Gush During ADIPEC 2016

From downhole in an oilfield to upstream in a refinery, digitization and big data analytics are proving to be as transformative to the oil and gas sector as smartphones have been to the world of consumers. GE Oil & Gas is helping companies unlock these digital opportunities.

One of the most significant examples of this is the first GE Asset Performance Management (APM) software reference for a refinery in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) region.

The solution – more generally the first GE Oil & Gas Digital solution for the region – reflects collaboration between GE and Saudi Aramco to have the APM solution reside on Saudi Aramco’s business network for the Aramco Jazan Complex Integrated Manufacturing Operations Management System (IMOMS).

To be deployed on industrial assets, APM will support the reliability and integrity of the assets and provide tools for analysis and strategy development, thereby assuring greater operational excellence.

The APM technology powering this project is on display this week during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), alongside other path-breaking digital and industrial solutions that represent GE’s position as a “full-stream” oil and gas company.

From upstream to midstream to downstream, GE is developing powerful software solutions built upon GE’s cloud-based Predix operating system designed for industry. These solutions help customers maximize asset efficiency, increase uptime and optimize production.

Other digital solutions on display at GE’s stand at ADIPEC that are ready to support regional customers in the hydrocarbon sector include Field Vantage, which provides oilfield operators with data-driven insights across their wells to enable faster and more informed decisions. Field Vantage provides situational intelligence across wells, empowering lower lifting costs, achievement of production targets and safer operations.

Another solution on show is the System 1 condition monitoring software, which features an intuitive interface, amazing vibration monitoring and diagnostic capabilities, enhanced functionality and a modular architecture. It’s ideal for use in the field and in factories – from offshore platforms to refineries and methanol plants.

GE’s stand also is presenting the full scope of industrial products for upstream, midstream and downstream, ranging from artificial lift and gas processing to gas turbine and extruder solutions.

GE Oil & Gas experts also are sharing their expertise across various knowledge-sharing platform at ADIPEC. This includes two Technical Case Studies and more than two dozen GE Tech Talks. The Tech Talks cover topics such as cyber security in an operational technology setting; the impact of Predix on the oil and gas sector; the role of the “digital twin,” which is a virtual model of a physical asset, in managing reciprocating compressors; and predictive emission monitoring systems.
