Call for best ideas: GE’s 2nd ecomagination Challenge
General Electric has launched the second phase of its US$200 million ecomagination challenge, ‘Power Your Home’ that seeks the best ideas for harnessing, managing and using energy at home. If you are a business, entrepreneur or innovator with a breakthrough idea on how better to use energy in the home, this Challenge is for you. It is open to anyone over 18 years of age.
Submissions of ideas can be made until March 15, 2011 at www.ecomagination.com/challenge. Entries must be in English and include a clear, detailed proposal describing an innovative, original home energy technology or process. Information about you, your team and how you came up with the idea along with a photo is required.
When preparing your submission, please consider:
• Originality – Is your entry unique?
• Feasibility – Is your entry cost-effective, or can it be made so?
• Impact – If successfully realized, will your entry help turn the current energy challenge into an opportunity?
The panel of judges will evaluate each entry based on merit; reliance on science and engineering fundamentals; innovative character; potential to create significant societal impact; commercial feasibility in light of applicable market dynamics; and other factors deemed appropriate by the judges.
GE will present each of five innovation challenge award recipients with $100,000 in cash making it the largest challenge of its kind. The $200 million capital pledge of GE and its partners will be invested globally into promising start-ups and ideas.
So far almost 200 ideas have been received, which can be read about here. For more information read links below or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
