Switching to low-energy light bulbs always tops the list of easy things you can do to address climate change and reduce your carbon footprint. That’s because it’s as simple as unscrewing your old bulb and putting in a new one.

In fact, energy-efficient lighting plays a big part in government efforts to reduce power consumption – something that regional countries are actively pursuing. Abu Dhabi’s Pearl Rating System, Qatar’s Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) and Dubai’s green building specifications all have lighting components, while efficient-lighting requirements are in place in Turkey, and other energy-efficiency programs are under development in other countries in the region.

The question is, where can you buy these energy-efficient light bulbs?

Well, if you live in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Libya, Iraq or the Maldives, a recent announcement by GE Lighting and Ace Hardware International means energy-efficient bulbs now are as close as your nearest Ace Hardware store. That’s because the two companies have agreed that Ace would make available to its retailers in the region the complete range of GE Lighting’s conventional and energy-saving LEDs to meet the lighting needs in residential, commercial and outdoor settings.

As GE points out, its LED solutions can save up to 70% in energy consumption, while using its upgraded conventional lighting sources can save up to 20%. The company’s LED products are also lead and mercury free, which helps make their footprint even smaller, and its newest range of products has the potential to contribute to up to 50% in energy cost savings.

Look here to find the GE light bulbs and other lighting solutions that can help you make a big reduction in your home and office energy consumption.
