Africa Ascending: GE Participates in the US-Africa Leaders Summit
As North Africa anticipates 3.1% growth this year and 5.5% in 2015, GE is participating in the three-day US-Africa Leaders Summit, beginning today in Washington, D.C.
Recognizing Africa as one of the most dynamic and fastest growing regions, the summit is themed: “Investing in the Next Generation,” and will look to advance President Obama’s focus on trade and investment in Africa. It also will explore ways of stimulating growth, unlocking opportunities and creating an enabling environment for the next generation.
GE has a history of more than 100 years in Africa, and today more than 1,000 GE professionals are working across the countries of North Africa – including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt to work with its partners to meet national needs and challenges. GE has developed extensive public and private sector partnerships that operate in energy, water, power, healthcare, aviation and transportation.
GE’s presence in North Africa has long reflected some of the Summit’s key objectives, given the company’s commitment to promoting localized innovation and working with governments and academia to promote human capital development and bolster job creation.
GE’s most senior global and regional leaders will meet with key government officials from across Africa during the event. GE Hewar will provide regular updates on this historic three-day summit, so be sure to check in regularly.
