Growing the Saudi Technical Talent Pool: GE Establishes Technical Academy with TVTC

Building the technical talent pool of Saudi Arabia is one of the long-term commitments that marks a cornerstone of GE’s near 80-year-old heritage in the Kingdom.

This was further demonstrated with a new strategic partnership agreement with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC). The agreement will establish a technical academy that will train annually 150 select Saudi technical graduates in advanced skills such as key areas of maintenance and repair of gas turbines, electrical motors and generators that are critical to the efficient generation of electricity in the Kingdom.

GE Foundation and AMIDEAST to strengthen English language teaching in MENA schools

Training in English language is gaining strong ground in the Middle East and North Africa region. This is particularly important in driving the ambitious infrastructure projects that are coming on line, as well as to boost the competencies of the youth population.

English language proficiency is linked to expanded opportunities for youth as well as improved business performance in the region. This has underlined the need for qualified English teachers in the region.

GE at KFUPM Technology Forum: Accelerating university-industry collaborations

GE is spotlighting critical paths to accelerate the transfer of advanced technology and enhance university-industry collaborations at the second King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) Technology Forum, which will be held on May 15 and 16, 2012.

Committed to complement of Saudi’s active pursuit of a knowledge economy, GE is supporting the Forum as platinum sponsor. At the Forum, GE experts will discuss the role that local technology development and knowledge transfer can play to further future development of the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Health 3rd Saudi Radiology Technologists Conference was recently held in Riyadh at the King Fahd Medical City. Over 1100 participants were from the Ministry of Health, NGOs and Private Institutions. Participants were: Students, technologists, Radiologists and administrative staff making it the largest such conference in Saudi Arabia.

GE at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals Career Fair

In its quest to nurture the best talent in Saudi Arabia, at the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals Career Fair (KFUPM) being held in Dahran, GE is highlighting rewarding job opportunities for fresh Saudi nationals graduates. In addition to job opportunities, GE will select five senior students for their Co-op Program that aims at providing talented young Saudis the opportunity to work at GE’s facilities in the US. The King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals Career Fair (KFUPM) runs till May 9.
